Summer Academic and Enrichment Program 2022

 

 

 

 

Summer of 2024 activities offered:

 

BAND - Summer is a great time to solidify skills on your band instrument, or get an introduction to an instrument if you haven’t played one before. Students will be grouped, as best we can, by instrument and level.

BOARD GAMES - If you enjoy battling your wits or simply playing a fun or competitive game with your friends, board game club will be the place for you! We will play a variety of board games, ranging from long-form games like Monopoly, brain games like Trivial Pursuit as well as many others you have interest in. This is made for anyone interested in playing games with friends.

 

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS - Level up your character, fight monsters, and enter into a world of fantasy! Dungeons and Dragons is a roleplaying game where you get to decide what your character will do next. Join your friends in this adventure game where you will explore dungeons, solve puzzles, talk with other characters, battle monsters, and discover magic items and other treasure along the way.

 

ESPORT TEAM - Students will work on team building skills while competing on games such as Valorant or League of Legends. Students' ability to play certain games will be limited based on grade level. This is a trial program to determine whether we will establish an official school eSport team in the upcoming school year.

 

INTRAMURAL SPORTS - Students will participate in various sports activities in an outdoor environment. This program is designed for students who are interested in playing friendly, competitive games with friends. This program takes place at Riverside Park. Please come prepared with water, head gear and sunscreen. 

 

JEWELRY MAKING - Students will participate in a fun project to bring out their creativity. They can make jewelry for themselves or share with their classmates. Jewelry supplies will be provided. 

LEGO BUILDING - Do you like Legos? This group will give students the opportunity to be ceative building with Legos. 

NATURE DETECTIVES - This program will take students on an outdoor adventure at Riverside Park to explore the local ecosystem. Through activities like nature walks, scavenger hunts, and fields observations, students will learn about the interconnectedness of living organisims and their environment. they will identify different plant and animal species, investigate habitats, and study food chains to understand the flow of energy in nature. 

PLANT EXPLORERS - Students will discover the wonders of botany by exploring the structure and function of plants. Activities such as plant dissections, seed germination experiments and garden planting will provide hands-on learning experiences. Students will learn about photosynthesis, plant reproduction, and teh vital role plants play in sustaining life on earth. 

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS (RAK) CLUB: - Students get together to perform random acts of kindness for everyone in the school/community. 

SCRAPBOOK CLUB - This club will teach students different methods for preserving personal and family history in the form of a scrapbook. Students are required to bring in their own photos. Scrapbooks and other materials for decoration will be provided.

 

TINY WORLD EXPLORERS: Students will delve into the microscopic wirld of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Through hands-on activities such as preparing slides, observing various microorganisms under a microscope, and indentifying their features, students will learn about the different types of germs, and their impact on human health. Topics such as hand hygiene and disease prevention will also be explored.  

 

WELLNESS AND NUTRITION: This program will include activities that are designed to help students develop the knowledge and skills to be healthy and active for a lifetime. The pillars of good health are addressed through a variety of engaging and activity-based lessons.

ART - ¡Deja que tu lado creativo se muestre! En esta clase, los alumnos pueden dejar volar su imaginación pintando o dibujando. Se proporcionará pintura y pinceles a los estudiantes.

NATURE DETECTIVES - Este programa llevará a los estudiantes a una aventura al aire libre en Riverside Park para explorar el ecosistema local. A través de actividades como caminatas por la naturaleza, búsquedas del tesoro y observaciones de campo, los estudiantes aprenderán sobre la interconexión de los organismos vivos y su entorno. Identificarán diferentes especies de plantas y animales, investigarán hábitats y estudiarán las cadenas alimentarias para comprender el flujo de energía en la naturaleza.

 

PLANT EXPLORERS - En este programa, los estudiantes descubrirán las maravillas de la botánica explorando la estructura y función de las plantas. Actividades como disecciones de plantas, experimentos de germinación de semillas y plantación de jardines brindarán experiencias de aprendizaje práctico. Los estudiantes aprenderán sobre la fotosíntesis, la reproducción de las plantas y el papel vital que desempeñan las plantas en el sustento de la vida en la Tierra.

 

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS (RAK) CLUB - Los estudiantes se reúnen para realizar actos de bondad al azar para todos en la escuela/comunidad.
